Having no Xayadeth on Thursday and Friday felt like vacation. I got up about ten minutes later (I'm serious), went to The Arthouse Cafe for breakfast then headed over to Big Brother Mouse. I haven't been too keen on BBM until recently because I'm not the most chatty person in the world. The idea is that Lao people go there to talk to foreigners and practice their English. A few of our students go so I thought it might be a nice chance to have a real conversation with them. Lesley also sort of insisted that I go. Turns out I really like it! A few of our chattier students go so they'll happily talk my ear off for two hours.
Also, Mipu's puppies have opened their eyes and are even beginning to crawl around. I was holding a black one the other day and it kept licking my arm. So cute....
In somewhat less happy news the spring field burning has begun so the air is pretty gross. There's a pretty constant haze and I think it gave me a bit of a stuffy nose. That thankfully only lasted a few days and I feel good today. It seems everyone needs some time to get used to the change in air quality.
In even less happy news Eva has decided to leave the program early. She came back from Bangkok in pretty good shape considering all that had happened but got thrown back into the work schedule full force. She actually got sick again last week on top of it. I have sort of mixed feelings about it. I like Eva and I don't want her to leave but at the same time I want her to go and heal up. She needs some real vacation time.
Also, scary shop mannequin sees you when you sleep.
